Getting started
Allow your calendar so the council can see when you’re free, and write a few lines about your day — three entries is enough for the alters to start noticing patterns. Location and Apple Health are optional and make plans more specific.
My alters are quiet
That’s the default. They only propose an idea with real evidence that it moves one of your goals. Write about something concrete — what you keep putting off, what’s bothering you, what you want to build — and check that your goals are set under You.
A block landed at a bad time
Open it and tap Remove, or Disagree? to tell the alter why. Unchecked blocks clear themselves at the end of the day. The council learns from what you finish and what you skip.
Change permissions
Calendar, location and notifications: iPhone Settings → Ego. Apple Health: the Health app → your profile → Apps → Ego, or Ego’s Settings → Apple Health.
Forgot your password?
If you signed up with Apple, use Continue with Apple — there’s no password to remember. Otherwise, write to support@theego.org from the address you signed up with and we’ll reset it.
Export your data
In Ego, go to Settings → Export my data for a PDF of your journal and your council’s ideas. For anything else we hold about you, write to support@theego.org.
Delete your account
In Ego, go to Settings → Delete account and confirm. Your journal, places, alters, blocks, plans and answers are erased from our servers right away, and Sign in with Apple is revoked. Events already on your phone’s calendar stay there; delete them in the Calendar app if you like.
Sign in with Apple
To stop using your Apple ID with Ego without deleting your account: iPhone Settings → [your name] → Sign-In & Security → Sign in with Apple → Ego.
Not for emergencies
Ego is a planner, not a crisis service. If you’re in danger or thinking about hurting yourself, call your local emergency number. In the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
