Terms of use
Last updated November 4, 2026
1. The agreement
These terms are an agreement between you and VLAI (“we”, “us”) about the Ego app and this website (together, “Ego”). By creating an account or using Ego, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Ego.
2. Who can use Ego
You must be at least 16 years old. If you’re under 18, or under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian’s permission to use Ego and to subscribe. You need an account, and you’re responsible for keeping access to it secure and for what happens under it.
3. What Ego is — and what it isn’t
Ego is a planning tool. Its “alters” are AI-generated voices that suggest things to put on your calendar, based on what you share.
You decide what to do with a suggestion, and you’re responsible for those decisions. Ego is not for emergencies. If you’re in crisis or in danger, call your local emergency number — in the US, call or text 988.
4. AI can be wrong
Suggestions are generated automatically and can be inaccurate, incomplete, out of date or unsuitable for you. Place and business names come from map data and may be wrong or closed. Check anything that matters — prices, opening hours, travel times, money decisions — before you rely on it.
5. Your content
What you write and add to Ego is yours. You give us a limited, non-exclusive permission to store and process it — including with the service providers listed in our privacy policy — only to run Ego for you. We don’t sell it. You can delete it at any time by deleting your account.
6. Your calendar
Ego adds its own events to your phone’s calendar and only removes events it created. It doesn’t change your other events. It’s still your calendar: check that a booked block works for you.
7. Subscriptions
Ego’s council runs on a subscription bought through Apple: $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year in the US (the App Store shows the price in your currency before you buy). New subscribers get the first 7 days free and are charged when the free week ends, unless they cancel before then. A subscription renews automatically for the same length and price until you cancel it in your iPhone’s Settings → your name → Subscriptions, at least 24 hours before the period ends; you keep access until then. Apple handles payment, renewals and refunds under its own terms, so refunds are requested from Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Accounts created before subscriptions started keep full access for free. Without an active subscription your council stops planning, and you can still delete your account in the app.
8. Fair use
Don’t use Ego for anything illegal or to harm others; don’t try to access other people’s data, break or overload the service, or copy or reverse-engineer it beyond what the law allows.
9. Other services
Ego relies on services from other companies, listed in our privacy policy. Their own terms apply to them, and we aren’t responsible for them.
10. Changes and availability
Ego is evolving: features may change, pause or end, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We may update these terms; if a change is significant we’ll tell you in the app or here. Using Ego after a change means you accept the updated terms.
11. Ending
You can stop using Ego and delete your account whenever you like. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms or put others at risk.
12. No warranty
To the fullest extent the law allows, Ego is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability.
13. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, for lost data or profits, or for any decision you make or action you take based on Ego’s suggestions. Our total liability for any claim about Ego is limited to the greater of what you paid us for Ego in the previous 12 months or USD 50. Some places don’t allow these limits; where that’s the case, they apply only as far as the law permits, and nothing here limits rights you have under consumer law that can’t be waived.
14. If someone makes a claim because of how you used Ego
If you break these terms or the law while using Ego and that leads to a claim against us, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that result, as far as the law allows.
15. Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn’t responsible for Ego or its content, and has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for it. Your use of the app also follows Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement and the App Store’s terms. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
16. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, except where the law where you live gives you protections that can’t be overridden.
